If I were asked to give what I consider the single most useful bit of advice for all humanity it would be this: Expect trouble as an inevitable part of life and when it comes, hold you head high, look it squarely in eye and say, ‘I will be bigger than you. You cannot defeat me.’

It is appallingly obvious that our technology exceeds our humanity.

The common person fears to think beyond the common.

No part of the human community can live entirely on its own planet, with its own laws of motion and cut off from the rest of humanity.

Be helpful, even if it compromises you.

For those of us who believe in the value of every human life, there isnt any more inspiring work under way in the world today.

Each of us is leading a difficult life, and when we meet people we are seeing only a tiny part of the thinnest veneer of their complex, troubled existences. To practise anything other than kindness towards them, to treat them in any way save generously, is to quietly deny their humanity.

A living man can be enslaved and reduced to the historic condition of an object. But if he dies in refusing to be enslaved, he reaffirms the existence of another kind of human nature which refuses to be classified as an object.

The true grandeur of humanity is in moral elevation, sustained, enlightened and decorated by the intellect of man

A sweet new blossom of humanity, fresh fallen from God’s own home, to flower on earth

Humanity is on the march, earth itself is left behind.

It is because Humanity has never known where it was going that it has been able to find its way.

A jealous lover of human liberty, deeming it the absolute condition of all that we admire and respect in humanity, I reverse the phrase of Voltaire, and say that, if God really existed, it would be necessary to abolish him.

The tragedy, the true catastrophe, is that humanity continues

Humanity will one day be defined, not by the gifts we possess but the virtues we lack.

Humanity is never more sphinxlike than when it is expressing itself

I believe in humanity. We are an incredible species. We’re still just a child creature, we’re still being nasty to each other. And all children go through those phases. We’re growing up, we’re moving into adolescence now. When we grow up – man, we’re going to be something!

Humanity is acquiring all the right technology for all the wrong reasons.

After all, there is but one race: humanity

The bond of our common humanity is stronger than the divisiveness of our fears and prejudices. God gives us the capacity for choice. We can choose to alleviate suffering. We can choose to work together for peace. We can make these changes and we must.

Zeal without humanity is like a ship without a rudder, liable to be stranded at any moment

Humanity has advanced, when it has advanced, not because it has been sober, responsible and cautious, but because it has been playful, rebellious, and immature.

Wouldn’t it have been better to change humanity so it no longer desired to destroy itself?

Humanity needs practical men, who get the most out of their work, and, without forgetting the general good, safeguard their own interests. But humanity also needs dreamers, for whom the disinterested development of an enterprise is so captivating that it becomes impossible for them to devote their care to their own material profit.

All humanity is one undivided and indivisible family, and each one of us is responsible for the misdeeds of all the others. I cannot detach myself from the wickedest soul.

Humanity is undergoing, in the post-Cold War era, an economic and social crisis of unprecedented scale leading to the rapid impoverishment of large sectors of the world population.

Weak mortals, chained to the earth, creatures of clay as frail as the foliage of the woods, you unfortunate race, whose life is but darkness, as unreal as a shadow, the illusion of a dream.

A robot may not injure humanity, or, through inaction, allow humanity to come to harm.

What in Gods name is it worth to be human, if we have to be saved from ourselves by a machine?

If everyone howled at every injustice, every act of barbarism, every act of unkindness, then we would be taking the first step towards a real humanity.

Only on paper has humanity yet achieved glory, beauty, truth, knowledge, virtue, and abiding love.

Without laughter life on our planet would be intolerable. So important is laughter to us that humanity highly rewards members of one of the most unusual professions on earth, those who make a living by inducing laughter in others. This is very strange if you stop to think of it: that otherwise sane and responsible citizens should devote their professional energies to causing others to make sharp, explosive barking-like exhalations.

Our humanity rests upon a series of learned behaviors, woven together into patterns that are infinitely fragile and never directly inherited.

Respect is the lifeblood of progress, and the safe harbor of humanitys great aspirations.

Ideas consume the ages as passions consume men. When man is cured, humanity may possibly cure itself.

The sole meaning of life is to serve humanity.

If the only significant history of human thought were to be written, it would have to be the history of its successive regrets and its impotences.

All humanity inspires me. Every passer-by is my unconscious sitter; and as strange as it may seem, I really draw folk as I see them. Surely it is not my fault that they fall into certain lines and angles.

A refined simplicity is the characteristic of all high bred deportment, in every country, and a considerate humanity should be the aim of all beneath it.

For humanity has moved forward to an era when wrong and slavery are being displaced, and reason and justice are being recognized as the rule of life.

We may have different religions, different languages, different colored skin, but we all belong to one human race. We all share the same basic values.

Liberty, equality bad principles! The only true principle for humanity is justice; and justice to the feeble becomes necessarily protection or kindness.

Trusting government nowadays means dividing humanity into two classes: those who can be trusted with power to run other peoples lives, and those who cannot even be trusted to run their own lives.

Beneath the surface of states and nations, ideas and language, lies the fate of individual human beings in need. Answering their needs will be the mission of the United Nations in the century to come.

If we continue to think and live as if we belong only to different cultures and different religions, with separate missions and goals, we will always be in self-defeating competition with each other.Once we realize we are all members of humanity, we will want to compete in the spirit of love.

Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive.

Revolution is like the daughters of Pelias: it cuts humanity to pieces in order to rejuvenate it.

Love is the only freedom in the world because it so elevates the spirit that the laws of humanity and the phenomena of nature do not alter its course.

There is no doubt that I have discovered the ultimate in stagnant human societies. The Bikura have realized the human dream of immortality and have paid for it with their humanity and their immortal souls.

Humanity is never so beautiful as when praying for forgiveness, or else forgiving another

All of us are guinea pigs in the laboratory of God. Humanity is just a work in progress.

No theory, no ready-made system, no book that has ever been written will save the world. I cleave to no system. I am a true seeker.

Equality, in a social sense, may be divided into that of condition and that of rights. Equality of condition is incompatible with civilization, and is found only to exist in those communities that are but slightly removed from the savage state. In practice, it can only mean a common misery.

The desire for wealth is nearly universal, and none can say it is not laudable, provided the possessor of it accepts its responsibilities, and uses it as a friend to humanity.

All human actions have one or more of these seven causes: chance, nature, compulsions, habit, reason, passion and desire

Everybody thinks of changing humanity and nobody thinks of changing himself.

Humanity-attached-to-the-task-of-changing-the-world, which is only a single and fragmentary aspect of humanity, will itself be changed in humanity-as-entirety.

The duration of every political phase is just as long as it takes to unveil its shortcomings and evil. While discovering its defects, it makes way for a new phase, liberated from these failings. Thus, these impairments that appear in a situation and destroy it are the very forces of human evolution, as they raise humanity to a more corrected state.

I am convinced all of humanity is born with more gifts than we know. Most are born geniuses and just get de-geniused rapidly.

Jesus’ teachings were never set before his followers as a finality. God has dealt with Humanity as we deal with children. He has given to everyage Truths adapted to their development.
